MISSION:    To promote safe, courteous, legal and responsible operation of snowmobiles; to promote a favorable public interest in snowmobile recreational activities; to establish a code of conduct for its members; to demonstrate through example the proper utilization of snowmobiles to non-members and to promote such other programs as are consistent with the furtherance of the objectives of this organization.

ACTIVITIES:

RESCUES: We have a specially designed snow rescue sled that is available for transports in areas that only a snowmobile can get to in winter months. This is a service that is available through our community service volunteers such as fire departments and law enforcement personnel.

SAFETY COURSES: Snowmobiling Youth Safety Courses are taught at least twice every year. This is a required course for youth’s ages 10 through 17 who plan to operating a snowmobile off of their own property. We have certified hundreds of children throughout our local area.

ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY: The club has adopted a portion of NYS Route 52 in both Orange and Ulster counties and has clean up twice each year.

SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS: Each year the club provides 8 scholarships to Students studying nursing, law enforcement and small engine mechanics. Four scholarships go to students at Ulster B.O.C.E.S. and four go to students at Orange B.O.C.E.S.

HOLIDAY FOOD BASKETS: Each year during Thanksgiving and Easter club members donate nonperishable food items and the club purchases turkeys for food baskets for needy families.

TOYS-FOR-TOTS: During Christmas club members donate new toys for the Toys-For-Tots Drive for underprivileged children.

CLUB CALENDAR OF EVENTS. It shows the club rides both locally on our local trail system and in different areas of the Northeast at which our members ride.

MEMBERSHIP IN THE NY STATE SNOWMOBILE ASSOCIATION: NYSSA has been instrumental in developing and implementing policies, strategies and action plans to foster the growth of safe snowmobiling, including defending against discriminatory legislation and watchdogging the trail fund. Without their assistance and lobbying efforts we would most certainly be unable to maintain our State trails. They keep us up to date on the changing laws governing the sport.

ANNUAL FALL PICNIC: The club hosts a fall picnic for its members each year.

MAINTENANCE CLASS: We have a pre-season clinic to instruct members on the proper pre-season maintenance for their sleds.

ANNUAL CHRISTMAS PARTY: The club hosts a Christmas party for its members each year.

LOCAL TRAIL SYSTEM: Maps available for club members only.

ANNUAL CLUB RIDE: Every year we have a club ride in Speculator, NY which is attended by the majority of our club members. It is a full weekend of riding, including a poker run and topped off with a club dinner on Saturday night.

END OF SEASON PIZZA PARTY: The club hosts a spring pizza party at the end of each season.
