MY THOUGHTS ON GEAR

Snowmobile Fashion and Fact

It is really nice to have the snowmobile suit that matches your sled, but this isn't always the warmest way to go. Before I go any further let me say that this article is only my opinion. Warmth is in the layering. Just remember you can always take a layer off on the trail, you can't always put one on. POLARTEC is a great start (after your wick-away underwear that is). POLARTEC 200 series is great insulation and comfortable. After this comes a great pair of boots, TRUKKE, a bit cumbersome but warm and waterproof. Then comes outerwear, full zippered leg pants or bibs and a jacket, MUSTANG SURVIVAL, ICE RIDER the only floatation clothing on the market. What any lake rider should consider in a jacket or bibs. Now a neckie of some sort, POLARTEC works nice again. This is needed for the neck is exposed more than any other part of the body because it sits above the snowmobile's windshield and cowl. A good pair of gloves with a spare heavier pair, why? Your snowmobile's hand warmers can short out or stop working 100 miles from the hotel, be prepared. A DOT approved helmet to finish. I have the new LAZER Modular helmet made for SKI-DOO. I may look like a jet fighter but it doesn't fog up and it is warm (thanks again Kev.) Stay safe, warm and dry and I'll see you on the trails.........
